IAN BROMWICH

OVERVIEW 

Ian is a seasoned Technology Executive with extensive experience in people and cultural development. He has held national and international roles as CTO and CIO in PLC listed companies and as an entrepreneur and investor/advisor in start-ups. Having grown technology teams from handfuls to hundreds of employees, transformed mindsets of departments and delivered multiple transformations, mindset and business leadership alignment are of the highest importance both in Ian’s personal development but also in the work he does day-to-day.

 

APPROACH 

As a technology leader, Ian balances the need for an increased pace in technology with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to solving complex people, organisational or technology problems. He is passionate about driving change in the context of senior business leaders relating to technology, and always looks for tangible results from his work.

Inspired by curiosity and the technology sector overall, he searches and pushes for gains in how businesses create competitive advantage through their execution of technology strategy.

 

CAREER HISTORY 

Ian started his career in software houses and, after five years, co-founded one of the first UK internet consultancy and development businesses, building mission-critical sites for leading UK brands. He sold it to a FTSE250 and became a strategic advisor to the company. Since then, he has held senior technology leadership roles at Egg.com, RSA Insurance, Barclaycard, Lloyds, and HSBC.

His current roles are CTO at Thrivelearning.com, Technology Advisor to Medi2data.com, Chairman of SmartSkies and as a Partner with Strengths Unleashed specialising in technology advisory.

 

ADVISORY AND EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE

Multiple years advising CEOs in small and large companies. Reverse mentoring NED’s on technology matters. Hosting UK Board plc ‘deep dive’ technology events. Numerous presentations and workshops to boards. Co-chairing business-led innovation boards.

 

PERSONAL 

Ian enjoys spending time with family (wife and four children), going to the gym, snowboarding, and piloting helicopters.
